  • Brett Favre Says He Will Not Return In 2011

Veteran NFL quarterback Brett Favre had announced that he would retire three previous times, only to return again when the new season began. But at 41 years old, and a not-so-stellar season for his Minnesota Vikings, is it time for him to hang it up?

At the beginning of the 2010 NFL season, Favre said this would be his last season after 20 years in the league.

"I can promise you this: Not that I have ever set out as a goal to play 20 years, it's 20 years and I'm done. This is the last year of my contract," he said during a new conference in August.

But was he speaking too soon? He has changed his mind in the past ... three times, so what's different this time?

The NFL Network asked him again on Thursday (November 11) to see how he's feeling now with eight games in the books this year. Will he play next season?

"No," said Favre, in an interview that will air in its entirety on Sunday (November 14) on the NFL Network, reports ESPN.

Although Favre helped the Vikings in a comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals last week, passing for a career-best 446 yards, his team is just 3-5 heading into Sunday's game.

Last season, he led the Vikings to the NFC title game, and hoped to take them to the Super Bowl this year. But now, they're struggling to just make it to the playoffs ... and that's the goal for what could be his final NFL season.

    "That's my goal," said Favre.

Why is this news again? He already said at the beginning of the year this would be his last.

I didn't watch the full game today but judging by the 3-31 lost against the GB Packers and his choked up post game interview it's hard to see a veteran go out like that
