  • NFL Thinking New Rules For Profanity On-Field

    Following the many scuffles that took place on-field on Thursday (September 12), during the New England Patriots and New York Jets game, the NFL is reportedly looking to curtail profanity.

    According to ESPN.com, the league is expected to enforce new rules in the near future around profanity and obscenities toward an opponent.

    Refs already have the authority to penalize a team and players for such acts under the umbrella of "taunting," but officials want more. Profanity by itself is not prohibited, though most verbal actions directed at opposing players are usually profane.

    League VP of officiating Dean Blandino told ESPN.com Saturday (September 14) that officials want to curtail "actions [verbal or otherwise] directed at an opponent." Stay tuned...
