The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will release wide receiver Sidney Rice, reports ESPN.
The 27-year-old signed a five-year, $41 million contract with the Seahawks in July 2011, but has suffered various injuries from the beginning.
He missed the final eight games and the playoffs last season, after suffering a torn ACL in October. During the 2011 season, Rice was limited to nine games due to concussion and shoulder problems. Rice did, however, play 16 games in 2012, recording 50 catches, 748 yards and seven touchdowns -- his most productive season since 2009, when he was selected for the Pro Bowl, after finishing the season with 1,312 receiving yards and eight TDs.
Rice is due $17.5 million in base salary over the next two seasons.
