The Walking Dead creator returns to AMC for a new series.
The Walking Dead's creator, Robert Kirkman, is teaming with AMC for an adaptation of another one of his comic book projects. This time they're developing Thief of Thieves, based on the crime caper series created by Kirkman, which recently began its run at Image Comics.
The story centers on Conrad Paulson who, while attempting to live a normal life with his wife and son, discovers he's helplessly addicted to the thrill of stealing and is unable to leave his life of crime behind. Now he must feed his addiction by stealing only what has been stolen, as the "Thief of Thieves."
Partnering with Kirkman on the potential series is Dexter alum Chic Eglee, who also worked as a writer on the first season of Walking Dead. After his time on The Walking Dead, Eglee worked on the pilot for Powers at FX, yet another comic book-based TV project.
"Much like The Walking Dead brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel Thief of Thieves can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals," said Kirkman. "AMC recognizes the limitless ideas generated by the comic industry. Their dedication to bringing The Walking Dead to life as a TV show has been key to its success and I'm excited about the potential of Thief of Thieves to reach similar levels of success."
Added producer David Alpert, "It's incredibly exciting to put the band back together with Robert, Chic and AMC; it just feels great."
