An 8-part cop series is in the works for Woody and Matthew.
A new eight-part drama series will soon be hitting the cable marketplace. Written by Nic Pizzolatto, the project has real life friends Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey attached to star and Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) set to direct all eight episodes.
Titled True Detective, the show centers on two private investigators who get caught up in the same 17-year hunt for a Louisiana serial killer. Using multiple perspectives and timeframes, the show will explore the investigation which spans from 1995 to present day. According to Deadline, the idea is to resolve the over-arcing mystery by the end of the first season. Subsequent seasons will adhere to the same structure but with different characters and story.
The series will mark Harrelson's return to television where he first became famous for his role on Cheers. For McConaughey, this will mark his first regular TV gig.
