Thanks to TVGuide.com, we now have our first glimpse of British actor David Morrissey as the TV-version of the iconic Walking Dead comic book villain, The Governor.
And as you can see, comic book purists won't be happy about the changes to The Governor's appearance (short hair, lack of eye-patch). But perhaps it was a move meant to portray the character, who is maliciously larger than life, as less comic book-y. There were some questions, a few months back, about what Michonne - another comic-y character in appearance - would look like on the AMC series, but it seems as though they decided to keep her look intact.
Creator of the books Robert Kirkman spoke to TVGuide.com after the Season 2 finale in order to assure fans that Season 3's Governor would not be a tamer version. "The Governor in the show is definitely going to be The Governor in the comic," Kirkman said. "I think that he's definitely going to be a character that people love to hate and are absolutely entertained by, but also somewhat terrified of. He's definitely going to be a very important character and a very nuanced character. We are not going to be watering him down."
