Josh Friedman and Howard Gordon teaming for new project.
Homeland executive producer Howard Gordon and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicle' EP Josh Friedman have just signed what's described as a "rich, premium script deal" with NBC to develop a futuristic, high-concept drama. The project is produced by 20th Century Fox TV.
Deadline describes the series as a "thriller soap set in a world much like ours, where human-looking robots are commonplace. After a routine homicide explodes into the first robot-on-human murder, the lead detective must solve the case and investigate a growing robot rebellion while dealing with the impact on his own fractured family." Friedman will pen the screenplay, with Gordon supervising.
This will obviously be Friedman's second take on human/robot coexistence, following the Terminator series at FOX. He also co-wrote Steven Spielberg's 2005 remake of War of the Worlds.
