  • Chronicle Writer Sells Action Thriller Pilot to FOX

Howard Gordon's Teakwood Lane lands its fourth project.

Homeland producer Howard Gordon has just sold his fourth new TV project through Teakwood Lane, the production company he started back in July. Chronicle writer Max Landis penned the pilot for the show, titled Vigilant.

Deadline describes the series as a superhero origin story "told through the unlikely POV of a brilliant 20-year old woman who is also a social outcast. After an honorable veteran detective is brutally coerced into working for the corrupt head of Internal Affairs, the detective's daughter plans her revenge by meticulously constructing a fictional vigilante persona to take on the criminal elements within the police department and the city."

However, Landis mentioned on Twitter yesterday that the show isn't really a superhero story at all. Tweeted the writer, "Vigilant is not a 'superhero' show in ANY traditional sense. Comparing it to The Cape or Powers or Arrow or Smallville is... just not accurate. No disrespect to those shows... It has more in common with The Wire than Smallville."

In addition to Vigilant, Gordon has three other TV projects lined up for development: an untitled adventure drama written by Shaun Cassidy for FOX, an NBC adaptation of a popular Icelandic series, and a futuristic thriller from Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles' Josh Friedman.
