Since the ending of Toy Story 3 put a pretty great cinematic cap on the iconic Pixar series, it's unlikely that we'll be seeing Buzz, Woody, and the gang on the big screen again any time soon. (Unless they pull some sort of Bourne Legacy sidequel concept, which might be interesting, but that's for another article entirely.)
AWN (via PixarTimes) reports that the next big adventure we'll see from the Toy Story crew is a TV project called Toy Story of Terror!, set to debut sometime in 2013. Here's the plot synopsis:
What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story of Terror.
I can hear Rex freaking out and getting scared already. This sounds like a lot of fun, and it would be perfect if Pixar could time it to release near Halloween next year. Rumors are swirling about whether or not it will air on the Disney Channel or on the much more accessible ABC network (both owned by Disney), and I think putting it on ABC would make it much more of an event than just dumping it on the kids' network.
