Gale Ann Hurd produced The Terminator and the Walking Dead TV series — and now she's creating a brand new spin on alien invasion. The USA Network has ordered a pilot for Horizon, a show Hurd is producing about an alien invasion during World War II. (The pilot order is contingent on USA liking the cast.) Horizon is also being executive produced by Burn Notice's Bridget Tyler, who is writing the pilot script.

Here's how the Hollywood Reporter describes the show:
Set during the height of World War II, Horizon centers on a secretary at the FBI who discovers that her husband might have been killed in a battle with a spaceship in the South Pacific. Obsessed with learning the truth, she becomes the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion.
So a bit of X-Files, a bit of Falling Skies, and a lot of period drama. Sounds actually quite neat. As the THR report points out, this is the first science fiction show USA has shown interest in since The 4400, quite some time ago, and it's part of a move by USA to broaden its brand, after seven years as the #1 cable network. Fingers crossed it lives up to the Walking Dead/Burn Notice legacy.
