  • Game of Thrones Writer George R.R. Martin Signs New Overall Deal with HBO

Winter is coming... and so are new TV series.

If you were hoping George R.R. Martin was keeping his schedule clear to finish those last two books in the Song of Ice and Fire series, this may disappoint you… The author of the acclaimed novels, the basis for HBO’s hit series, Game of Thrones, has signed a new overall deal with HBO, reports Deadline.

This deal will keep Martin on as a co-executive producer on Game of Thrones (he typically writes one episode a season), but will also involve him developing and producing new series projects for HBO. Martin got his start in television, writing for series like Beauty and the Beast (with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton) and the 1980s version of The Twilight Zone.

In the meantime, George, come on… We want to see book 6 and 7!
