Thomas Kretschmann. Yes, the man who plays Dracula in Dario Argento's Dracula 3D is going to be Abraham Van Helsing in NBC's forthcoming Dracula series. The show is set in the late-1800s and, according to THR, Van Helsing "is not the classic hero featured in so many retellings. Here, he's a brilliant professor with a cool exterior who is obsessed with revenge and makes him more of a threat to the public than to Dracula."
The site adds Oliver Jackson-Cohen will plays a journalist in the series.
The two join Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jessica De Gouw. Meyers plays Dracula, who arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.
The show debuts this fall. Dracula 3D, meanwhile, is awaiting a U.S. release from IFC.
