Billy Bob Thornton has been cast in the lead role of FX's new TV series Fargo. He will play Lorne Malvo, "the rootless, manipulative man who meets a small-town insurance salesman and sets him on a path of destruction." This was the same character that was played by Steve Buscemi in the Coen Brothers' classic 1996 film adaptation.
This is a limited 10-episode series that will "follow an all-new 'true crime' story with a new case and characters all seeped in the humor, murder and 'Minnesota nice' of the original."
Joel and Ethan Coen are both attached to the series as producers so I'm sure it will still have the level of humor and charm that the film had. I loved the movie, and I just hope this series will be just as crazy and entertaining. I think Thornton is a great choice for this role.
