  • Syfy Announces Two New Series, Including Zombie Story Z Nation

Two more original series are coming to Syfy. They recently announced that zombie story Z Nation will premiere in fall 2014, and mythological drama Olympus will make its debut in 2015. Both series will have 13 episodes.

Z Nation, from Sharknado production company The Asylum, joins the zombie frenzy. Executive producer Karl Schaefer states that despite the familiar topic the material will be fresh and that "Z Nation will take viewers where no zombie has gone before."

The ensemble drama will take place three years after a zombie virus has swept through the United States. "A team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood." They don't state how the heroes also survived the virus, but they were probably out of the country when it happened.

Olympus will explore the "action-packed world of humans, Gods, and monsters." Writer Nick Willing (Tinman, Neverland) and executive producer Robert Halmi Sr. (Gulliver's Travels, The Odyssey) are on board, and production is slated to begin this summer. The series is being produced by Reunion Pictures and Olympus TV (London) Limited in association with Great Point Media.

In this drama, it seems like the Gods are portrayed as the enemies. Olympus "will tell the story of how a few brave men and women banished the Gods to the realm of the unconscious." The series will follow a young man as he transforms into a leader of men and becomes strong enough to be a match for the gods.
