The SyFy Channel has released a poster for their upcoming 12 Monkeys series. This show looks like it has potential, but we’ll have to wait to see how it all shakes out. You should check out the trailer for it here if you haven’t already.
The show stars Aaron Standford (X2: X-Men United) as Cole, who was played by Bruce Willis in the 1995 movie. The series seems very different from Terry Gilliam’s film, and the story follows the Cole as he travels from 2043 to the present day so that he can locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race. While on his mission, he teams up with Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) as well as a female mental patient named Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire), which is a character loosely based on the character played by Brad Pitt.
12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveler, Cole, from the post-apocalyptic future. Using a dangerous and untested method of time travel, Cole arrives in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate 93.6% of the human race. Will Cole be able to save the fate of mankind or is mankind bound by fate? Taking place in the ravaged future of 2043 and the present day (2015), 12 Monkeys explores themes of destiny, fate, love and the possibility of second chances.
The series is set to make its premiere on Friday, January 16th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
