Last year it was announced that Legendary Pictures was developing a series based on the popular '90s computer game franchise Myst. According to TV Line the series received a script-to-series commitment from Hulu.
The game follows a man who wakes up on a mysterious island. He has no idea how he got there, but players venture out on the island to "explore its grandeur and mystery." It has been described as "a chilling tale of intrigue and injustice, defying all boundaries of space and time."
Producer Matt Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man) is one board to spearhead the project from a script written by Evan Daugherty (Divergent).
When the project was first announced the video game developer Cyan Worlds released the following statement:
"Cyan's goal in working with Legendary is not just to create a compelling TV drama but to develop a true transmedia product that will include a companion video game that extends the story across both media. Seventy percent of tablet owners use their device while watching TV at least several times a week. Cyan sees the potential to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling to a new level."
Hopefully the show will end up being a series that fans of the game will enjoy.
