  • ‘Family Guy’ crosses Fox

Weeks ago, Family Guy voice and creator Seth MacFarlane announced to press that Fox refused to air an episode of the series because it featured an abortion theme that was too offensive to air.

Wednesday night, MacFarlane found a way around that ban when he and several co-stars performed a live table read of the episode for a group of reporters and members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the Ricardo Motalbán Theatre in Hollywood.

“It’s not as bad as you think,” he promised before settling in.

Several reporters seemed to disagree, but only because of several key moments. In the episode, Lois becomes a surrogate for a college friend and her husband, but then must decide whether to have the baby when the couple dies in a car accident.

Parodies include a Ziggy the Zygote video from a group of anti-abortion activists; propaganda posters from pro groups saying that if they didn’t exist, the Three Stooges could be the Four Stooges; and some Osama Bin Laden and Adolph Hitler references.

Several other references were reportedly too offensive to repeat in print.

According to The Washington Post, the episode is undeniably unfit for TV, and it’s the second time Fox has ruled to not air an instalment of the politically incorrect series.

The first came in 2000 with “When you Wish Upon a Weinstein,” in which Peter attempted to convert his son to Judaism.

It's too bad this show isn't on Comedy Central. They let South Park get away with almost anything. I guess they could still release banned episodes on the season DVDs.

The only filthy epsiode that I thought that SP made was about Terry Schiavo..(The brain dead woman that got cut off life support after 10 years or so) and I found that fucked up because I can't imagine what it'd be like to have your dead family member mocked on TV.

I can see why people get mad over this, when you have an abortion it totally messes with you...But then again,I don't get offended by much, so I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I think "Family Guy" really upped it's game since South Park tore it to shreds with their "Cartoon Wars" episode. Everything South Park said about FG's bullshit random unfunny humour was true and you can see the show takes a different direction afterwards and becomes a lot funnier with much better more developed jokes and characters.

Blue Harvest was classic and I hope that "Something, something Darkside" is as good.

Shit man I don't like this, its like Cartman in SP said, once you censor one thing you have to censor it all.

I love Family Guy but I love being pro-life more so...Good.

                    Everyday create your history.
Every path you take, you're leaving your legacy.
Every soldier dies in his glory.
Every legend tells of conquest and liberty.
                    Every hero dreams of chivalry.

I'm really getting tired of all the sensitivity TV exec's get over something as simple as this. It's meant to be a parody and nothing more. So what if people get offended? Then don't watch it. It's that simple.

For the record, I laughed my ass off at the SP Terry Schiavo episode, because I know it's just a cartoon and nothing more.
