  • Nintendo 3DS Vs Sony PSVITA (WHO WILL WIN)!!!

    Both Systems Have The Same Price ($249) And PSVITA Is Coming Out At The End Of The Year. I Think Both Handhelds Will Sell Very Well. I really think the sales will be neck and neck (Very Close)

    note: PSVita has 2 different versions. 3g will cost $299

    3DS has already dropped price considerably here in the UK. No decent software is out for it. Zelda just came out but I dunno. Vita is going to be good thanks to all the features that the games can use such as the gyro and the touchpad and dual thumbsticks. However I don't really understand the need for a 3G version for online gaming.

      3D gimmicks and graphics asside. Its all about games and this is why Nintendo always dominates the handhelds. Handheld games are very different from console games. Graphics mean shit on a handheld other than battery drains. Vitas game lineup can't touch nintendos holiday season line up. Between a brand new Mario. Mario kart. Luigis mansion. Kid icarus. Mgs. Starfox and the others. Nintendo will rule once again.

      I never owned a handheld and had no intentions too until Mario 3ds was shown. I may seriously get a handheld for that alone.

              I think they did it on purpose so that people will buy the next version.

                I was thinking of buying the PSVita when I first saw it. I have the PSP 2000 hacked but I don't use it much so I gave it to my brother. So I need an new handheld.

                  Neither handheld will sell well... The reason? The Price. There's a reason that the Gameboy, and then the DS were the best selling hand held's of all time. Lineup is/was important sure, but the reality is, Both companies have simply out priced themselves. I JUST got a PSP 3000 last December... while that in itself isn't all that odd, I need to qualify that by saying I currently own 20+ other consoles/handhelds. I literally buy everything. However The price of the PSP is simply to high. I think the majority of gamers own Handhelds for 2 reasons... either;

                  A) They are so young it's there first system, and it's an easy way to easy into the whole gaming thing. (Aka all of my cousins and their Gameboys/Nintendo DS')
                  or
                  B) The user is serious enough about gaming that they would like to be able to play in places other then there tv. (Aka Me and while I'm taking a shit, at work, travelling, etc.)

                  The problem then becomes apparent... the people with money don't buy hand helds. Either you're from column A) and don't have any money and instead must rely on someone else buying the system for you, meaning $250 is a hard pill to swallow for most parents for something that will likely be thrown, dropped, left outside etc... or, you're from column B) and already own another "Main" system (or 2) and instead can spend $250 on countless games for those systems. It's very rare to find someone who identifies themself as a handheld gamer only and is above the age of 10.

                  So back to me... I'm 28, have a decent amount of expendable income, and am in the upper 90% of hardcore gamers (I consider WOW players really the only people who are more hardcore), problem is... $250 is just to much. Handheld gaming is something to pass time and get me from point A to point B, it isn't, nor will it ever be, the same experience as a console game experience. I wanted a PSP since the moment I demoed one back in 2004. I assumed that Sony, like Nintendo, would eventually drop the price to something closer to $100. Years later and that proved incorrect, so SONY never got my money until recently. $250 is simply too much for a handheld. For true success a handheld needs to launch at $149, and only get cheaper from there (barring any limited editions which are a special case.) My original gameboy was purchashed for $99, my sisters without a game was $79. My Gameboy SP (Limited NES Series) was $99. My DS was $129. All of these were WILDLY successfull. Nintendo 3DS launches, and besides the fact it wasn't much of an upgrade from the DS itself, it prices itself a full $100 more then the original DS... During the middle of a recession to boot. The PSVita offers far FAR more substance for the price, and honestly... is probably close to being worth the asking price... but being a handheld doesn't do it any favors. The 3DS is easily $100 over priced as Nintendo didn't reinvent the wheel with this system, and any "upgrades" are modest at best. Shit go see what kind of $250 Laptops/Netbooks you can find and marvel at how much more you get on the pc end of things compared to the 3DS.

                  Both companies really shot themselves in the foot with this one.
