  • Latest Call of Duty day-one sales hit $400m

Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has rung up sales totalling $400m (£250m) during the game's first day on sale.
    Kerching.

MW3 arrived in the shops on Tuesday, and after 24 hours on sale, 6.5m copies had been sold in the UK and North America.
EA's Battlefield 3 took a week to reach 5m units. EA and Activision have been sniping at each other for the past few months, each trying to position their respective games as the best modern war first-person shooter.

MW3's sales revenues eclipse those of the previous installment in the Call of Duty series,Black Ops, which yielded day-one sales of $390m.
The new game's success will go some way to compensate Activision for the decline in World of Warcraft revenues it's been experiencing of late.

Thats some moolah. However to me its just the same formulae rehashed. I refuse to buy the same game every year.

so selling numbers says something or its the best of the year or maybe ever? So basicly you say all these undeground rappers and old legends are wack compared to the biggest mainstream rappers, cause these sold more?

Fact is cod is the most mainstream game ever, thats not a bad, at all. But saying its great cause it sold alot is just a silly argument. BF3 sold alot aswell, but is not that mainstream and easy accessible as Cod.

number of sales dont say everything, we as hardcore rap fans should know that.

Negative, video games and music are two completely different things, I didn't say COD is the GOAT and Battleprone is a flop, even though Battlesearch goes probably further back than Call Of Duty, it's not as if BF was just made last year & the Call Of Duty franchize has been around for decades,

I just love for fanboys to look at sales, technically, what you're saying is, a game made from a 10 dollar budget and is underground, can be legendary over "mainstream" games, well, I'd like to see one of those first, if you wanna throw it in those terms, then to me it's like, two of the biggest "mainstream" rappers drop their albums right around the same time (MC Call Of Duty & MC Battlefield), but the rapper I enjoy more than the other one, happened to drop his album a little later and still tap that ass,

2Pac boasted about out-selling Badboy, so on behalf of Cod lovers, I'd like to share the same joy.

you are the one sounding like a cod fanboy right now when shouting COD SOLD ALOT MORE, Suck BF lol.

based on what mainstream is and what less mainstream/undergound the video game world is exactly the same compared to the music scene.

If you had some more knowlegde about the gaming history you could have named some low budget legendary games .

Play what u want to play, listen to what u want to listen and dont base it on selling numbers.

It's not about naming low budget video games, I don't know, I don't know the history of them either; I'm not a super game nerd...

I'm saying, I don't know a video game with a dead budget that's better than a mainstream video game in 2011, hence the mainstream vs underground topic here.
