  • Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Trailer

So they have changed developer to the guys who created Bayonetta. Looks more like a God or War/ninja gaiden hack and slash game now. Im kind of disappointed with the gameplay shown off in the trailer.

COuldn't agree more... I was super excited for the game when it premiered a few years back, now I have serious reservations. From what I've read, the original game had a concept, and had an engine, but had no basic plot. Because of the lack of Plot Kojima actually had cancelled the game, and it wasn't until recently that Platinum games came along and saw that it had been scrapped, and asked to have a go at it. Kojima thought it was an alright idea and agreed to the switch. The game was originally supposed to be set between Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, showing what lead to Raiden going full cyborg. Now, with the developer change, the time has shifted, and instead it's set after metal Gear Solid 4. I love the MGS games, and I enjoyed Bayonetta and DMC4, so hopefully we get a reasonable mix. I'll say this up front though... if the stealth action part is gone, then this game is already hindered in my mind. The stealth game play is what made MGS without it it just won't make sense.

Indeed. I have a feeling if there is any stealth involved it would just be like the Tenchu series.

Tenchu isn't MGS, BUT... I could live with a Tenchu style mix. The Tenchu games were fun in their own way, though they lacked the polish of the MGS games. I'll be watching this game closely. MGS was the single reason I was excited for both Playstation 2 and Playstation 3. I own, and have played through all the games multiple times, anything less then this kind of experience will be a let down for me.

Here's the whole story of the transition of Metal Gear Solid: Rising to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. From both Kojima Productions & Platinum Games. Even a little in there about the inevitable MGS5.

My opinion on all this, it'll no doubt be a solid game as both Bayonetta & Vanquish were clearly underrated games. BUT when it comes to MGS, this is nowhere near what I was expecting. I knew there would be more action as the tagline went from 'Tactical Espionage Action' to 'Lightning Bolt Action' but I figured there would be some type of a good balanced blend of stealth & action. Now I do understand this is just a spin-off of the series (this is the most important thing to understand about this, it's not a new direction the series is going in) but still, MGS is the Don of the stealth genre. You'd think they'd have to have it in there in some respect. Anyway, I know I'll end up picking this one up at some point but nowhere near release as I'm not exactly excited about it anymore.
