Second game also thought to be in the works.
Monolith, the developer behind the original FEAR and Gotham City Imposters, is rumoured to be working on a game to tie-in with the forthcoming Hobbit film.
Superannuation, who has a credible record of unearthing secrets, tweeted, "As to what Monolith/Warner Bros. Games Seattle is up to now - pretty sure it is a little fantasy action RPG-lite called The Hobbit: Part One."
Last November Warner Bros reduced the size of a number of its Seattle-based studios. 60 employees were made redundant, but this is thought to have mainly impacted Lord of the Rings: War in the North developer Snowblind.
Superannuation continued, "Snowblind basically no longer exists, so WB Games Seattle is more or less Monolith and some other dev support/publishing staff and whatnot.
The new Hobbit movie will be split into two parts - An Unexpected Journey and There and Back Again. Superannuation added that another game based on the second Hobbit movie is also in development: "It also sounds like WB Seattle will be handling the tie-in for the second Hobbit film."
