Darksiders II Delayed to August To allow 'additional time for polish.'
This is both bad and good news as its bad that we will not get to play it sooner but on the bright side it will have more time to be smoothed out so there are not alot of glitchy gameplay.
THQ announced today that Darksiders II has been delayed until August 2012. The game was previously announced for June 26th, but THQ promises "the game you'll have in August will be well worth the wait."
"This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting," THQ said in a blog post. "In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience."
THQ notes that the delay is not the result of the recent layoffs at Vigil Games and that customers who pre-ordered will still receive the previously confirmed Limited Edition at release. In addition, "game content remains unchanged, as do our future DLC plans." The delay also "has nothing to do with" the recent announcement that Darksiders II will be a Wii U launch title.
"Nothing is more important to us than quality and thankfully our company's current operational position allows us to make the right choice for Darksiders II. As we've stated in numerous articles and videos, Darksiders II is substantially larger game than its predecessor and the ambition of this project requires extra time to polish to the high standards that Vigil Games and THQ are committed to," the post concludes.
The August release date will affect all territories, though "the exact street dates will be issued for each region in the days to come."
