  • Naughty Dog Co-Founder Becomes THQ President

THQ announced today that Jason Rubin has replaced Danny Bilson as president of the company. According to a statement, Rubin will be responsible “for all of THQ’s worldwide product development, marketing, and publishing operations.” Rubin will report to THQ chairman and CEO Brian Farrell.

Rubin is known for co-founding Naughty Dog and for serving as co-creator and director of Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter. More recently, Rubin was co-founder of Flektor, a “media mashup tool” owned by Newscorp (the same parent company as IGN).

“THQ has incredible internal and external game development teams, and an exciting slate of games in its development pipeline,” Rubin said. “I look forward to working with the management team and board to realize the company’s goals.”

THQ notes that Bilson “is leaving to pursue other interests” and will no longer be with the company. Other shifts in management include the departure of Dave Davis (senior vice president of core studios) and the hiring of Jason Kay as chief strategy officer.

These changes come in the wake up THQ’s recent financial troubles, including multiple rounds of layoffs. The company recently announced that it has several titles in the works for 2013, including Metro: Last Light.
