  • The ‘Left 4 Dead’ Series Has Sold A Staggering 12 Million, ‘Left 4 Dead 3′ Confirmed

In a recent interview, Valve’s Chet Faliszek threw out a rather impressive bit of info, saying the Left 4 Dead series has sold an incredible 12 million copies to date. It’s no surprise the franchise has been immensely successful, but 12 million is a lot, especially for a zombie game. “Telling people a game is great will sell one extra copy. Letting people play the game – Left 4 Dead is a good example – is much better,” Faliszek told VG247.

Valve recently confirmed that Left 4 Dead 2 will be getting Steam Workshop support later this month, so players can create, discuss, and find mods for the game more easily. In a separate interview, Chet had something to say about the inevitable Left 4 Dead 3 — more after the jump.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Faliszek confirmed that a third installment in the popular zombie series will come “some time down the road,” with no promise of when we can expect it. That sounds spot on with Valve’s approach to game development, where fans have had to endure some insanely long waits between sequels (Half-Life 2: Episode 3, anyone?). It’s not surprising that Valve has plans to continue this series — all you need to do is look at that sales number above to know this isn’t something they’re planning on ending anytime soon.
