  • Ambitious Indie Horror Game ‘Haunt’ Takes Slenderman To A Terrifying New Level

The runaway success of Mark Hadley’s indie horror game Slender: The Eight Pages has inspired a Slenderman renaissance, of sorts. On Steam Greenlight, you’ll find Huntsman: The Orphanage, The Legend, and the co-op centric Faceless, among others. There’s also Survivers (though it’s not very good), White Noise: A Tale of Horror on XBLA, and we can’t forget Blue Isles’ Slender: The Arrival, a reimagining of the game that started it all.

Haunt may very well end up blowing those games out of the water. Where some games have only tried to replicate the success of The Eight Pages, this project takes the essence of what made that game great (namely, being alone and hunted) and evolves it. Visually, it’s stunning, especially for an indie game. It’s also super ambitious, featuring a story-driven adventure and a massive world to explore. Check it out after the jump.

In related news, Haunt version 1.1 will release on January 31st, fixing many of the issues players have had with the game, among other things. The developer also revealed their plans to release an episodic series called Haunted Memories, which will consist of three episodes. The first chapter will debut early this year for PC, Mac, Android, and iOS, with the possibility of it also coming to consoles.
