Call of Duty Black Ops 2 has been out for over several months now. The multiplayer aspect of the game is past stale at this point. Despite the game getting older, there are still plenty of ways to have fun in Call of Duty. Some of these ideas may be obvious while others not so much. Regardless, if you try one of these 7 ways to have fun on Cod, you’ll find yourself raging far less.
1. Play with friends (NOT ONES THAT RAGE!)
While the fact of playing with friends is nothing new, playing with ones that can sit back and have a good time without being aggressive is key to having fun. We all have those fellow gamers who bitch and moan after every death. They blame lag, the other team, their team, treyarch, someone’s mom, bungie, anything they can think of to make it seem like it is not their fault. Those people are the ones that will frustrate you just as much, and you won’t even realize it at first. You’ll start to notice that you become progressively negative as the game wears on, thanks to mister-rage-at-everything. Associate yourself with fun people and you will have fun as well.
2. Try different game modes
I talk to a lot of people who tell me that they are getting sick of Call of Duty. One of the first things I ask them is if they play different game modes. about 80% of the time, they say no, they play the same 3 game modes errrrrday. Try something new! Play demolition, capture the flag, party games, Search & Destroy, etc. Mix it up. If you keep playing TDM, kill confirmed, and domination, you are bound to get sick of it. You are literally doing the same thing every time. Mix it up people.
3. Try different guns/classes
We all have our favorite gun. The one that when we put it on in our class, we are just going to wreck people. The thing is, it is just like #2 , mix it up. Challenge yourself by using non-op (overpowered) guns. Put different attachments on it while you are at it as well. Don’t just be that shotgun sally that constantly runs around with a shotgun. Change it up. I dare you.
4. Don’t always go tryhard
Winning isn’t everything. If you know me, that sounds like one of the most hypocritical things i’ve ever said, since I really do enjoy to beat up on some other players. But when it comes to showing off your stats, they really don’t mean anything. If you are constantly trying the hardest you can, you’ll hurt yourself. Alright. Just take a breather and try some different challenges. An example would be: knife only, riot shield only, changing your sensitivity (to the lowest or highest), etc. You can make it a team game where your whole team has to use one setup or can’t sprint. I don’t know, just something different that doesn’t require you to constantly try and be all sweaty at the end of each round.
5. Listen to music while playing
Let’s be honest, ‘sound whoring’ isn’t as possible in this game as it was in previous games. You won’t be able to hear footsteps as often with music playing, but it’ll put you in a better mood and could actually improve your gameplay. Just like some music helps you study for a test, some music can make you focus more on the game. I usually play music while i’m playing zombies. It isn’t as important to listen to the different sounds or cues in zombies as it is in something like search and destroy. Also, if you are listening to some kick-ass music, it makes it seem like some big-ass montage.
6. Play older versions of Call of Duty
This one is quite an obvious one as there are still thousands on each game at every moment. While cod 4 is still playable (at times), I’d suggest going from Modern Warfare 2 thru Black Ops 2. It brings this good nostalgic feeling when you were 4 years younger playing a call of duty for the first time. I still remember my first time…playing call of duty obviously.
7. Play other games
Take a break from Call of Duty. Take a day off, 5 days off, a week off, however long you need away from the same game. Just don’t continue to play it all the time. You will obviously get sick of it after a while. It is just like a girlfriend. She is great. She is fun to be around and everything, but if you hang out with her for an excessive period of time, each and every day, you’ll get sick of her. Have your own time to go see other friends (My other friends are NCAA Football, League of Legends, NHL 13, and alcohol). She’ll understand. She’ll still be there for you after your time separate from each other. After a break from Call of Duty, you may enjoy your time with it again.
While these tips aren’t always useful for everybody, I am sure each reader can try out one of these if they haven’t already. It is a good way and relax while gaming, which is supposed to be enjoyed not be stressful. What are some other ways that you have fun while playing Call of Duty?
