Details regarding this year's Call of Duty Championship have been formally announced today: The event will take place in Los Angeles in March, with the competition set to be played on Xbox One for the first time ever.
Much like last year's Black Ops II event, this Call of Duty: Ghosts competition will see 32 teams competing for $1 million in prize money. Those teams will come together from all around the world: 13 teams from the Americas, 13 teams from Europe, four teams from the Asia Pacific region, and two teams from Africa and the Middle East will comprise the final list of competitors.
Before making it to L.A., teams interested in competing will first have to survive a series of qualifiers set to begin taking place later this month and continuing into February which will conclude with a set of regional finals. Details on how to qualify are available on Major League Gaming's website.
These qualifier tournaments will be played on Xbox 360, with the various regional finals and the championship itself going to be played on Xbox One. According to Activision, this makes it the first official competitive Call of Duty event on Xbox One to offer prize money.
The regional finals will be streamed live on MLG.tv and Xbox Live in late February and early March. The championship itself -- won by Fariko Impact last year -- will also be streamed online and is set to take place from March 28-30.
