    Fuck Konami for raping MGSV.
I'm not sure or to 100% blame Konami. You need to understand that these companies are business companies. The cost of the game probably became way to high because Kojima's perfection (this can be negative sometimes). So they cut it off and that's probably how their beef started.

I know it's all about the money, but it's Metal Gear Solid, one of the most famous game series of all time. when you sell a new MGS you know that you get much money. Kojima and Konami spent 80 millions, but got ~ 170 millions during the first week and they will get more, because not everybody buys a game on release date.

        This is not really true

Since its release Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom has sold 3 million units globally but compared to its budget, it’s got a ways to go before it likely breaks even let alone makes a profit.

You notice the time jump from when he listens to the "From The Man Who Sold The World" tape to when he's bloody in front of the mirror? The logo on the door behind Punished "Venom" Snake changes from Diamond Dogs to Outer Heaven. Seems like this game was leading up to Metal Gear as he puts in that tape with all the noise that's labeled "Operation Intrude N313" which is the mission where Solid Snake is sent by Big Boss (of FOXHOUND) to save Gray Fox (as Frank Jaeger failed "Operation N312"). A damn shame. As big as the game is, Kojima had even bigger ambitions for it, it seems. I really want a remake in current gen of those first 2 games. Seriously, fuck Konami. Word is that they're going to focus on mobile games. They really need to sell off the IPs of Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania to a publisher who will do them justice.

Oh and it doesn't really explain why Big Boss is in MGS4.

*****[SPOILERS AHEAD: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE STORY]*****

The Outer Heaven of Metal Gear is located in South Africa. This is run by Punished "Venom" Snake, Big Boss's "Phantom". He's killed here by Solid Snake after rescuing Gray Fox.

The Outer Heaven of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is located in Zanzibar Land. This is where the real Big Boss is "killed" by Solid Snake after he "kills" Gray Fox. To which then Zero/Patriots recover(s) both bodies. Gray Fox being reborn as the Cyborg Ninja & Big Boss being put into a coma until years later when EVA got to him and somehow rebuilt his body with pieces of Liquid Snake & Solidus Snake.

Anyway, my point being that MGS4 is what explains how Big Boss is alive in MGS4, not the ending of MGSV. The ending of MGSV explains how Big Boss showed up in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake after the events of Metal Gear.

I guess that ending was the end of chapter 4 or the intro for chapter 5.
anyway, it's operation N313, so it explains why Big Boss was in MGS4 after Solid killed him during operation N313.

Maybe I should play MGS4 again.

The MGSV ending explains how he survived MG1 (South Africa Outer Heaven/Operation Intrude N313). Because it wasn't him, it was Venom. It doesn't explain how he survived MG2 (Zanzibar Land Outer Heaven) to then appear in MGS4. MGS4 explains that.

you are right. for some reason I thought N312 was MG1 and N313 was MG2.
one day I will play the series in chronicle order.

damn these games have developed! i remember playing mgs on psx for hours. snaaaaaaaaaaake!!!

EDIT: just seen a demo of that new Metal Gear. That's just a fucking war game, not like the first two parts. I think it's shitty they focus on anti-middle east and russian enemy games.

MGS5 is different, but not that bad. The main problem is the story, because the game has 50 story missions, but only 22 missions are story based and the rest are filler missions. That's why the story suffers here and that's sad, because the story is one reason why I love the MGS series. Another problem is that the game isnt complete: chapter 2 has only 7 story based missions the other 13 missions are the same as in chapter 1 just harder. 2 1/2 chapter are missing in the final version.
They created 2 huge maps, but they didnt utilize them - you have to visite few places multiple times, why that? create a place for each mission, damn is it so hard nowadays? Besides that the game is very repetitive, there are no nice tasks like in MGS1-4 - all you have to do it kill/extract this and that guy or sabotage this and that.
The game was released to early and that's fucked up, because it could be an awesome MGS when they would release the game in 2017.

I just completed this, very dissapointed overall. The story was poor, lazy and unfinished. With all the running around, filler missions and side ops, I lost track of the main story at parts anyway, not to mention the fact nearly all chapter 2 was repeating missions but why include the old cut scenes again of things that have already happened, it messes with the flow. Oh and what happened to Emmerich, the kids took off on metalgear too? Good game, terrible as a metal gear entry.

people found a file on the PC version

so it seems that the rumour about 5 chapters is true. so my guess is that the ending (episode 46) is the end of chapter 4, because the title of chapter 5 is Outer Heaven and that would explain the ending (episdoe 46). so maybe there was a plan to link MGS5 with MG1 with a fight against Solid Snake.

Kojima left Konami or leavin Konami end of the year, so they wont release a story DLC. it's a shame that we got a ~40% complete game. when it would have hit another franchise I wouldnt care, but it's MGS and this game needs a long and complex and crazy story, especially the this last MGS to fill all story gaps.

without the awesome prologue and few great episodes ( 16 of 38 ) + the Ground Zeroes part it woould be the worst MGS game.

Damn it! I know i'm late but...this was not a 10/10 game. maybe 7/10 the prologue was the best part to me than the ending? uhhh

but it does explain why Big Boss is in MGS4 as others have said...and to tell the truth I lost interest in it. just came back and tried to replay it but im just not into an open world metal gear and the story doesn't grip me like other metal gears. each their own.
