Techland files Dead Stop trademark.
A trademark for Dead Stop suggests that Dead Island could be on its way to mobile phones. Filed by Dead Island developer Techland, Dead Stop is listed in a trademark filing as providing "entertainment services” and “an online game via an application for mobile phones and other electronic apparatus.”
t’s not surprising that Techland would want to expand the franchise, as Dead Island sold more than three million copies worldwide and received a Game of the Year edition last month.
A trademark late last year indicated that a sequel called Dead World was on the way, but it appears to have been replaced by the announcement of Dead Island: Riptide at E3. While we don’t know much about Riptide yet, we do know it will cost $10 less than other console games.
We’ve reached out to Dead Island publisher Deep Silver for comment about Dead Stop and will update this story if we hear back.
