Are you looking forward to what's coming for the 3DS and Wii U?
E3 2012 has come and gone, and in many ways Nintendo's presentation didn't go as any of us expected. And yet, when you think about it, the publisher actually has a considerable volume of content - great content - coming later this year.
While we don't know precisely how Wii U's launch will sort itself, we do know that all of the games Nintendo presented at this year's E3 are launch window. That is no small feat. Nintendo's own games include: New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Nintendo Land, Project P-100, Lego City: Undercover, Game & Wario, Sing and Wii Fit U. Third party support includes Assassin's Creed III, Darksiders II, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, Rayman Legends and ZombiU.
Moving to the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo didn't announce anything new at E3 itself, but in some ways it didn't need to do that. New Super Mario Bros. 2, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Paper Mario: Sticker Star all appear to be very solid, making for a great second half line-up. (Plus there's Fire Emblem, though we have no idea when that will arrive.) Throw in a new Castlevania, a 2D Epic Mickey, Heroes of Ruin and Kingdom Hearts, and Nintendo's portable scene is looking respectable.
Despite all of these games on the way, no doubt many of you are looking for something different. Maybe you want more 3DS games to choose from, or Wii U's launch line-up isn't offering what you want. So that's the topic of our latest 'Blog of the Week' challenge.
The Blog of the Week Question(s):
What are your thoughts on Nintendo's 2012 offerings on the 3DS and Wii U? Are you satisfied with what will be published for the two systems? Why or why not?
(Note: This is a broad look at both platforms, including third party content.)
Want to win a free download code? Of course you do. First, if you would be so kind as to vote in the below polls, that would be great. Second, you need to blog! Any length will do, but we'll be looking at both quantity and quality. When you're ready to share your submission, share your link on Rich's IGN profile.
Make your submission no later than Thursday, June 21 at Noon PT. Among the blog posts chosen for promotion, Audrey and I will be singling ONE out as our Blog of the Week. The chosen blogger will win a download code for one (1) free eShop game. The winner will be able to choose between Pushmo, Mighty Switch Force, and Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword.
If you're chosen, we will contact you through e-mail (and your IGN wall), so keep an eye out. And respond! (And please don't ask us if you've won - if you did, we'll be in touch.) These codes only work for North American 3DS systems, so at least for now only stateside gamers are eligible to win the download code. If you live outside the U.S., we'd still love you to participate, but we won't be able to throw a free code your way.
So vote below, write a blog, and we'll see you in a few days.
