Twice as many coins if you download from the eShop.
Nintendo has announced that players who purchase New Super Mario Bros. 2 digitally will receive twice as many Club Nintendo coins as players who buy a physical copy. According to a promotional page on Club Nintendo, players who buy a digital copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 from the eShop will receive 100 coins, while players with a physical cartridge will receive only 50.
Coins will be earned by linking your 3DS to your Club Nintendo account before purchasing New Super Mario Bros. 2. Once it’s purchased from the eShop, players will simply log into Club Nintendo and take a registration survey to earn the extra coins.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be the first full retail Nintendo game to be available digitally on the same day as physically. It will also be the first first-party Nintendo game to offer paid downloadable content, following the lead of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Theatrhythm.
