  • 'IGN for Haiti' Webathon and Auction

January 26, 2010 - On January 12, Haiti was struck by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that left the nation and its people devastated, and IGN felt the need to pitch in. We don't know the first thing about disaster relief, but we do know gaming and entertainment. So we helped rally the industry to aid Haiti in its time of need.

IGN For Haiti Webathon InfoWhat: Live online fundraiser
    When: 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Wednesday
    Where: IGN Advertisement

Tomorrow, January 27, we'll be hosting a 12-hour online webathon soliciting donations from the IGN community. IGN For Haiti kicks off at 9 a.m. PST and runs until 9 p.m. You'll be able to donate directly to our chosen charity, Habitat for Humanity, or you can jump to the official IGN For Haiti eBay page to bid on auction items.

And you don't have to wait for tomorrow's webathon to start bidding on your favorite gear. IGN's charity eBay auction opened today, Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. PST. The videogame and entertainment industries have generously opened their vaults and donated some of the coolest gear we've ever seen. So head over to the IGN For Haiti eBay page to check it out. And remember, your money goes directly to Habitat For Humanity. Every little bit will help the people of Haiti in their time of need.
You know you want these PS Nikes.

The eBay auction offers a number of incredible items, including comic books signed by Stan Lee, a life-sized replica Lancer from Gears of War, a limited-edition gold-plated replica Bayonetta pistol, a Call of Duty poster signed by members of Infinity Ward, an Xbox 360 game console signed by the IGN editors, an original oil painting of "Mister" Chief by Halo fan-fave Frank O'Connor, and a whole lot more.

The IGN for Haiti webathon, hosted by Jessica Chobot and Scott Bromley, will include in-depth discussions about gaming with editors such as Greg Miller, Daemon Hatfield and Hilary Goldstein, as well as special guest appearances and some original video content that you can only see here.

IGN employees have pledged money for each level earned during our play session. You can find and play with us online Wednesday. Just look for the "IGN Xbox" gamertag.

We realize many of you have already aided the Haiti relief effort or are simply not in a position to donate. But you can still help by spreading the word throughout the gaming community. If you're on Twitter, use the #IGNforHaiti tag to let people know about the auction and webathon. Our goal is to reach as many gamers as possible so we can make a difference in the lives of the devastated Hatian people.

    Thanks for your support.

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.
