  • Fuckin' Ps3...

So I'm not even going to try to hide the fact that I'm a much MUCH bigger fan of the Xbox 360. I was a bigger fan of the original Xbox as well. Most of this started when My PS2 laser started breaking down and I came to find out it was a common issue. Did Sony agree to pay for there own fuck up? Of course not, they tried to stick it to the consumer.. thankfully I had other options and moved on to my xbox. I later learned of some tricks to keep the PS2 working and used those to there full extent. I was not happy however, and decided right then and there that I wouldn't be a Sony supporter.

Jump ahead a few years and I finally purchased my ps3. I've had it now for about 3 years, but only own 10 games for it. (Compared to the 160 for my xbox 360 and 10 for my Wii). Primarily it's been my Blu Ray and Media Server machine for which it got steady use. Tonight however the damn thing decided that it was going to stop playing Blu Ray disks and instead freeze up after 30 minutes. To which point subsequent attempts to play said media resulted in freeze ups in shorter intervals. Now I understand things break down, hell I've owned 7 different Xbox 360's, 3 of which RROD on me. However at least MS paid for there own mistakes and rectified the situation for me. Sony meanwhile just charged me $150 for them to fix my 3 year old console. One Hundred and Fifty Fuckin Dollars because Sony put out Shit once again. Really, how hard is it to use a little quality control. I mean, never mind the fact that my personal info was just stolen not 2 months ago and you've taken away features in your "updates" that I rightly paid for, no I don't mind, please make me spend another $150 to get a working console... I only paid $500 to buy the fucking thing.

FUCK YOU SONY. If I wasn't a collector of Video Games/consoles, I would have pawned this thing off and purchased a Oppo-BDP 93 Blou Ray player and washed my hands of you forever.

I prefer Xbox too but both systems have there own flaws, I guess at least Microsoft will fix it for you. Who needs a PS3 anyway now? they've lost all the exclusives (MGS, Resident Evil, GTA, etc) GT5 is all they got left and thats meh, do away with it and get a bluray player or drive for your PC

I dont play ps3 alot and thats maybe why I had it for 4 years (ever since release) and never fucked up once, just some freezes thats come rarely. I think they fuck up after long hours of use.

I was thinking of getting a Playstation 3 seeing as there is a price drop on the horizon. Want to get a blu ray player plus I hate the price of Xbox Live nowadays.

That's some hard luck. I've never had all problems with any of my sony systems. I have a couple of games but use it solely for Blue Ray purposes. I've heard many bad reviews on 360 too. So I think it's just a sign of the low quality of construction that takes place now.

My little nephew has been playing his PS3 for years all day every day and it still works good. The only thing it does is freeze on a rare occation while playing a game. That's probably because the machine is getting hot from being used all day. I'm a PC gamer for life!!

I've had mine for more than 3 years, no breakdowns, none of that, crashes a little frequently, but at least it's outlasted any Xbox console I've ever had in my house hold.

Either you left yours on 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and it wore the system out, or you have one of those shitty updated models, the original PS3's have more power and hardware in them

Like the old saying goes, "treat it like a piece of shit, it'll end up like a piece of shit"

Funny... I have one of the Original Backward Compatible 80g models. Had it since 2007. As for treating it like shit, re-read my post. I Dust bi-Weekly and am a collector. Meaning I have everything in pretty much perfect condition. Check the photos of my setup in the "post photos of your game room" thread.

I'm not really annoyed at the fact the machine broke down, I'm more annoyed that I paid $500 for it in 2007, and now sony wants me to pay $140 again. For what it's worth, the original backward compatible models are more susceptible to failure then the newer models because of increased power consumption, less ventilation and hotter running chips. I haven't used my ps3 like I used my 360, but it's seen alot of use all the same. Again I own nearly 300 Blu Ray movies and the PS# was my only player. Add in the game time, plus all the time I used it as a media center (Which is ALOT!) And it more then got it's use.

Finally, I've now owned my Xbox 360 S for over a year, and it's froze exactly 3 times. It's safe to say that the New xbox's no longer suffer from the problems of the early models. But, to update my situation.. I filed a service notice with Sony last night, they contacted me this morning and are sending me a box for repair. They claim the box will arrive in 3-5 business days. Repair takes 7-10 business days on top of that. So hopefully things go quick. I'll keep this thread updated with any change in status.

only my first PS1 (the first model) had a laser problem ..the second copy I bought works even today.
never had a problem with the first PS2 model and the slim version.
my PS3 has no problems at the moment

                              Ps3>>>>>>>>Xbox

Sony owned miscosoft hard, paying hundreds of millions to get Black op mappack 3 weeks earlier lol. That shows how desperate microsoft is. Microsoft sold alot more in the begining of the consoles. The sales of the xbox are low as hell atm. but ps3 is selling so much more now and at the end sony sold more then microsoft.

For me the ps3 have alot better exclusives plus the xbox controller is so horrible.

Im no fanboy, I have both consoles here, but really dont like the xbox, dunno why.
