Grammy-winning producer Timbaland is reportedly on board to help provide a variety of beats and music for an upcoming Beaterator Playstation Portable (PSP) game.
The move will take the popular online program to fans' mobile devices.
Rockstar Games hopes Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the video game charts. In a conference call yesterday, Rockstar parent Take-Two announced--in association with the proven hip-hop producer--Beaterator for PSP. The original Beaterator is no Ableton. It's more like a stripped down version of Acid or Garage Band. And it's unclear how much of a rhythm game the PSP port will end up being. Still, it's another exclusive making its way to the handheld. Timbaland previously expressed his feelings on working with the company responsible for games including the Grand Theft Auto series.
"I've always been a huge fan of Rockstar and love playing their games," Timbaland said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to be partnering with them and making music for Beaterator. I cannot wait to get this in the hands of our fans!" (Playstation Joystiq)
Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser also spoke about the collaboration with the renowned producer.
"We launched a web-based version of Beaterator on our own website and people really embraced it," he said in a statement. "That inspired us to build and create something very interactive and unique. Scarce details have emerged since the announcement with no signs of a release date.
