According to gaming site kotaku.com, despite heavy promotions and backing from one of Hip Hop’s biggest rappers, 50 Cent’s Blood On The Sand video game has been suffering from lack of sales.
Released in February, Blood On The Sand has gone on to sell only 56,000 copies between February and April.
Although Blood On The Sand has received decent reviews from gaming sites and magazines the game has still managed to sell tremendously less than 50 Cent’s first video game Bulletproof.
Released in 2005, 50 Cent: Bulletproof sold 681,000 copies in its first two months and in total the video game has sold well over a million copies according to the NPD marketing research group.
In Blood On The Sand, players must retrieve a diamond and pearl encrusted skull that was stolen from the G-Unit crew at a concert in an unnamed Middle Eastern country. The game revolves around 50 Cent, but players have the opportunity to choose from Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, or DJ Whoo Kid as their co-player.
Despite Blood On The Sand's seemingly uninspiring sales 50 Cent has mentioned possibly releasing a sequel to the video game. Neither 50 Cent nor THQ have responded to Blood On The Sand’s lack of sales.
