THE BUZZ: Information has come out about the Xbox 360 version of Max Payne 3, and how the game’s content will be separated per disc—which isn’t good news for those who might want to play the game via Redbox.
EGM’s TAKE: For those of you out there who love the exciting world of discussing how many discs a particular game has, and how the content on said discs is distributed, then do we have a story for you!
Over on internet message forum NeoGAF, member Wario64 noticed that the Redbox entry for Max Payne 3 noted that only disc one of the game would be available for renting, and that “there is no online gameplay available” via that disc.
After he (and a few others) tweeted the official Rockstar Twitter account asking about that, Rockstar wrote this reply:
That Redbox info is not accurate. Redbox only ever rent out one disc, for any multi-disc game. Max is on 2 discs for 360, so Redbox will be renting disc 1 which contains half of the single player story and the full multiplayer game.
So, now we know—Max Payne 3 will come on two discs, and will have the storyline broken up between the two (with multiplayer on the first disc). So, with the Redbox policy of only carrying the first disc, if you plan to play it that way, be ready to experience one hell of a cliffhanger.
