"A standalone heart-rate monitor accessory may also be on the way"
A new report claims that Microsoft is preparing to unleash Kinect Play Fit, an exercise tracker that will work across various Kinect applications.
According to sources speaking with The Verge, Microsoft is about to update the Xbox360 dashboard software to track exercise across most Kinect games, with metrics being stored in the cloud.
It is also said to be releasing a new piece of hardware to accompany the service. Codenamed Joule, the heart-rate monitor accessory will work wirelessly and be compatible with most Kinect games, though it isn't needed to make use of the Play Fit service.
There's no word of a release date and no confirmation from Microsoft, but if it is real, it's safe to assume that Microsoft will be offering more details on Kinect Play Fit and the Joule accessory at E3 next month.
