The highly anticipated Tomb Raider reboot has sadly been delayed until 2013, Crystal Dynamics has announced.
In a message posted on the official Eidos message board, Crystal Dynamics Head of Studio Darrell Gallagher has confirmed that the game won’t see a release this year.
“Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.”
“We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve.”
Well this has certainly started the week off on a downer. We still haven’t recovered from the Bioshock delay and now we get this news. It appears that the move has been made to give the development team polishing time – the game can’t afford to be a let down if Crystal hope to create a new lease on life for the franchise. At lease we can all save some money in quarter four now.
