Microsoft has called the appearance of real money items on Xbox Live as “an error.”
Yesterday, some avatar items appeared on Xbox Live Marketplace purchasable with real money, leading some to speculate that Microsoft Points are on the way out.
They’re not. Microsoft has blamed a glitch for the issue.
"Yesterday, a few avatar items appeared with an option to purchase with local currency, instead of Microsoft Points," said Microsoft in a statement.
"This display error doesn't signal a change in payment options, but rather an error in how the offers were configured in our services which resulted in an inconsistent experience. It is in the process of being resolved."
Earlier this year it was rumoured that Microsoft Points were to be scrapped. Looks like that's definitely not the case.
