As we’ve previously reported for the month of July, there was a notable absence of a 20MS survey for member of the Xbox Live Rewards program. Their statement when contacted regarding about the unusual change:
“There is no survey this month. We’re hard at work on all sorts of cool stuff for our members. Stay tuned for more news soon!”
Well now that we’re another month over, there is still no sign of a survey but we do have some more news! When a user logs on to the official site, they are greeted with the following:
“Right now, Xbox Live Rewards is evolving to better reward you for doing the things you love on Xbox Live. While this means we are unable to accept new registrations at this time, enter your Gamertag on the right if you would like to be notified when the new and improved Xbox Live Rewards is up and running. “
Along with this statement, they provided a small FAQ which hints at the reasoning behind the change being the announcement back at E3 in June regarding the transition of Microsoft Point to local currency.
For those who’ve earned points prior to July but never reached the 100MS requirement for deposit, they can breathe a sigh of relief. Any points that a XLR user have accumulated even if under the pending amount, will be deposited on August 7th.
The new and retooled Xbox Live Rewards that will, “[reward you] for doing the things you love on Xbox Live” is slated to be described in more detail come September 1st! It’d be no surprise if the new rewards system is tied deeply into the upcoming Xbox One network and interface as well, but until more details emerge we’ll just have to wait to see how they’ll change the program and it’s rewards.
Stay tuned to SimplyXbox for the latest developments regarding the Rewards program for Xbox Live users!
