Microsoft's cloud storage service, formally known as SkyDrive, has relaunched today as OneDrive, and with the change comes support for Achievements on Xbox One.
The Xbox One version of OneDrive was already available previously as SkyDrive, and it continues to allow users to view clips created with the system's Game DVR feature, videos, and photos. The ability to watch slideshows of the photos you've uploaded to OneDrive is encouraged with the newly implemented Achievements, which include tasks like viewing 10 photos from your camera roll or watching five hours of slideshows.
OneDrive is not the first Xbox One app to offer Achievements; Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox Video, and others offer Achievements (with no Gamerscore attached to them) for completing certain tasks.
OneDrive provides users with 7GB of free storage and allows for an additional allotment of space by using the camera roll backup feature (3GB of free space) and referring friends to the service (500MB each, up to 5GB). Additionally, the first 100,000 people to use OneDrive will receive 100GB of free space for one year.
The name change was first announced in late January following a lawsuit last year. Xbox One users should see the new name listed on the app on their systems beginning today.
