Wizzattz Productions: Another one of my favorite songs by 2Pac w The Outlawz. Besides Johnny J, QDIII was also a favorite and influence of mine as a producer. I came across the acapella on YouTube and figured I'd make a remix by recreating the instrumental to "Lost Souls" by sampling parts of the instrumental of "Don't Disturb This Groove" by The System and added some sampled vocals and replayed piano elements from "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" by Roy Ayers to blend in with 2Pac's vocals on the hook where he interpolated the line "My Life, My Life, My Life, My Life" to create a "What If" scenario... What if "Lost Souls" had the "Don't Disturb This Groove" and "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" samples in it as opposed to the replayed and interpolated elements that we got on the "Gang Related" soundtrack? Would it have sounded just as good? This is my interpretation of what it may have sounded like. I tried my best to recreate the drum pattern, triangles, rhodes and bass line instruments to keep the feeling of the original song. The snare was sampled from "Lost Souls", but the kick drum was actually sampled from "Gridin" by The Clipse. From what I noticed, QDIII used the same kick drum on 2Pac's "F**k Friends" and "U Don't Have 2 Worry". I sampled it from "Gridin" because it's easier to sample since there weren't any melody driven instruments covering it up. I don't believe "Lost Souls" actually uses that kick drum, but I thought it would be nice to add it into this mix since QDIII actually used it in other productions rather than spending hours trying to find a kick drum to match the one used in "Lost Souls". All the other instruments were replayed by using sounds from various drum kits and instruments from "Propellerhead Reason 8.0".
