  • Killuminati (OG Vibe/w a bit of the Retail Vibe)

Maaaaaan, sometimes special things can happen when friends/collaborators get together (well by texting, emailing and/or DM'n each other lol) sharing stems, acapellas and sample discoveries... My homeboy Krysis hit me up the other day saying that he found the sample to Killuminati OG. I'm thinking to myself "Killuminati OG sample??? I thought that was an original beat." When he sent me the link to listen to the song I thought "Oooh Shit!!! THERE IT IS!!!" (It's a very small 2 second part at the beginning of the song) So instantly we began talking about doing a mix. Got the sample going right with a MrMind acapella, but we didn't have the drums... I hit up my other homeboy Murdaonyou and sent him the draft and mentioned to him that we dont have the drums and something I guess just clicked in his mind, so he was like he believes the drums for Killuminati OG is the same drums he used in remix he did for "Thugs Get Lonely Too". Again I'm like "Oooh Shit!!!" Lol. As the draft mix started coming together, i noticed and mentioned to Krysis and Murdaonyou that the acapella had too much of the OG'z music playing within it (the vocals were intact though, except on the hook) so they starting working on extracting the acapella. I also hit up MrMind and Joecool (I should've hit up KillathuggRmx as well. My bad bro. I just remembered that u acapellas too as i'm writing this.) Krysis tested the Retail Version out by extracting the stems. Some reason the vocals didnt come out right. Murdaonyou said the same thing when he tried, but the OG was fine in certain parts. What did work out from the Retail stems was part of the "wah-wah guitar". (put that in the mix) the female vocal and the synth whistle didnt quite work, but as far as the synth whistle, I just replayed it, but i replayed the OG'z bassline while adding a bit of my own twist to the intro and hook sections. Joecool hit me up with the stems for the OG. In short, pieces from everybody's work was blended together to create this OG/Retail Vibe draft. I'll go into even further details from my perspective when i finish the mix.
Looking forward to a great discussion. Until it's finished, enjoy this demo/draft by [MENTION=1313]Krysis [MENTION=16810]murdaonyou [MENTION=1364]Joecool and [MENTION=943]MrMind and Me Kool81 aka Wizzattz.

    Killuminati (OG/Retail Vibe Draft preview)

    Samples
"In The Deep" by Beginning Of The End
*Discovered by Krysis (sample appears @ 0:04 - 0:06. I used multiple parts of the sample instead to "Funk-Up" the vibe lol)

"Keep On Doing It" by The New Birth
    *Discovered by Murdaonyou

"Bounce, Rock, Roll, Skate" by Vaughan Mason and Crew
*This is more of a "guess" on my part. To me it sounds like on the beginning of Killuminati OG might be a sample of someone saying "yeah", "Ayy", "Ehh" or "Get", so i cropped out a 1 second vocal section @ 2:32 from this song and tested it in the mix. Maybe, Maybe not... It sounds like it to me tho lol.

            Nice stuff, boys!

There are too many elements imo, sounds a bit cluttered

Well based on your sample loop example you posred in the "Discussions" section it sounds like you have a foundation going to make an OG Vibe as well. Maybe you can give a better demonstration.

Take it easy man, just giving my two cents. I thought by "Looking forward to a great discussion" you meant creating the best result by involving the community.

Didnt mean it to come off as a diss lol. What i'm saying is based on Krysis's discovery, your loop of the sample and this post, we're all more than likely gonna start working on OG Vibes and sharing our interpretations of it. Based on the loop i saw from u I thought maybe u could make a more "straightforward" OG Vibe with just the loop, whereas this version we came up with is somewhat more of a remix since it has more things going on in the mix that the OG didnt even do, yet it's still based on Krysis's sample discovery.
Let's all throw our guesses at the wall for all to enjoy.

For someone who doesn't mix, I sure appreciate your detailed descriptions of what's going on and how it happened. Like [MENTION=12451]Dominator, I also find instrumental quite busy- enjoyable, nonetheless, but busy. I am interested to hear how this mix progresses.

                        Thanks bro

Hmm, The more that i ponder on the pace of the song and the extra elements added to this version, it kinda reminds me of my OG Vibe to "Lost Soulz"

I'll try to have it ready sometime within the week.
Til then, Here's the very 1st draft sent to Krysis and Murdaonyou (no drums or extras, bass recreation for verses in early stage, acapella full of artifacts of the OG'z beat blending with the applied sample. Pretty much an Acoustic Version lol)
