I always wondered about this song, it's various versions and it's relation to "Never Be Peace". I used to think that the singing and various runs Danny Boy did fit the song really well until I noticed that it sounds like he's saying "Never be no peace". Then there's the version with I think it's Jewell singing a different hook. I like it too, but my problem with that version of the song is 2Pac's vocals for his verse is playing both censored and uncensored vocals creating somewhat of a mess in my opinion. Then there's the retail version... Honestly this is one time I actually had no problem with what was done despite the fact that the "There'll Never Be" by Switch sample was completely removed and a new hook is added in by Tyrese. The other thing about this version it has 2Pac on the hook also saying the "I swear I'll never call u bitch again, believe me" line. I know there are a few other versions I haven't mentioned but these are the main 3 that stuck out to me.
Now here's the thing. I started working on an OG Vibe draft using more of the Switch sample here and there, but for some reason there's no hook at all on the studio acapella.(they could've at least had 2Pac's on there smh) I had a talk with [MENTION=1364]Joecool about it and his suggestion was to not have a hook at all which to me would make it be like how a few Hip-Hop songs back in the day had no hook vocal and just let the instrumentation do the job. (ala Scarface's "I Seen A Man Die") What do yall think? Hook needed or No Hook? If hook needed, I need someone to send some DIY acapellas for me to test out. Not the Tyrese hook, unless the 2Pac backing hook vocal can somehow be isolated.
