Non of what i'm about to say is a diss towards u or me coming at u from a certain angle, but more of an assessment of this beat, other beats and perception of music. As far as this beat, being that it samples Al B Sure's Nite & Day, a very synthy 80's R&B song about telling someone how u feel about them Nite & Daaaaaaaay lol. Now I'm not saying it's "impossible" to make it more aggressive, but with the DR OG version sampling the lil plucky synth in the way it did.... well i think u may know where im going with what I'm saying. However, one could make the arguement that Hit Em' Up was an aggressive beat, another R&B 80's song that isnt aggresive at its core, buuuuut i will admit when it was sampled for Hit Em' Up, the pianos that were added to it were played in tones that could be looked at as possibly "dark", but let's be real. The real aggression that was in it was what Pac and the others put into their vocals. When We Ride On Our Enemies OG version interpolated its beat from a veeeeeeeery beautiful piece of R&B music right. Throw Pac's vicious vocals on it and it becomes a very venomous piece, but the beat alone though? Is it really? On a Johnny J tip, are there really any "aggressive" beats in his catalog? I guess that would depend on how one defines "aggressive" based on beats alone. Funk music could be viewed as aggressive based on most of its bass lines. Now back to WIGF. Version 2 on RUSD from my POV is waaaaaay more aggressive than the DR version. The DR version to me sounds more "contemplative" and the Al B. Sure sample makes me think of oldschool cartoons when a character is either thinking of something or tiptoeing around in a sneeky way lmao, but that's just my subjective opinion. With all that said, again, non of what i'm saying is an attack towards u or your comment. It's just my thoughts about 2Pac/Johnny J/Hip-Hop producers music, sampling, perception of music in general and jokes sprinkled here and there with my subjective view of it lol. Essay over... (hopefully I get at least a "B" lmao)
