Been kinda busy working on the DJ Moey One Nation project. I was talking with Joecool one day about High Speed and it made me think about the interpolation 2Pac does on the hook where he says "Whatcha gon do when ya get out of jail / I'm gonna buy me a gun" based off of "Genius Of Love" by Tom Tom Club's line "What you gonna do when you get out of jail / I'm gonna have some fun".
I always wondered what it would sound like if the beat for "High Speed" actually used parts of the "Genius Of Love" beat, so I quickly drafted up a mix. I didn't use the intro section. I used the guitars, synth, snare and played some rhodes to interpolate the vocals from the section where the girl(s) sing "I'm in heaven / with my boyfriend / my laughing boyfriend" I used some Johnny J instruments for the kick, hi-hats and shakers.
