1. Pain - Nice instrumental and its well mixed. Its a good pella to go with starting the EP. though im at that stage where ive heard this mixed so many times that i dont fall inlove... good solid mix 7 out of 10. maybe you could have included 2pac on the stretching between verses. love how the scratching changes mid way to the vocals. switches things up and gets people into the mix. It makes me like the mix more leading into the 2nd verse
2. Open Fire - I've always thought a dark instrumental goes well with this... Though the elements in the instrumental give it a unique feel. It's different. Kind of has a classical feel to it and at the same time it has some dark elements... Nas kills this. I like him more on the instrumental than 2pac. I think you get over pac because the instrumental is kind of repetitive. where as the melody on the nas beat changes at times. 8 out of 10
3. The Way I Am - Love the features... though wish there was more pac on this, maybe more of him on the chorus with adlibs or something. and i think nas' vocals dont suit the mix at times... like the instrumental is too happy of a vibe for how his vocals come across... Kurupt kills this for me! 7 out of 10
4. Uppercut - Wow. Something different... love it. the way you kind of made 2pac chorus at the start as an intro is great. the melody has me hooked and its such a different mix than all those other uppercut mixes. Nas sounds so good on this. my favorite mix so far! The way the instrumental changes up is perfect 9 out of 10
5. Homeboyz - I don't know if you posted this in the remix section or it was on one of your other tapes but it sounds do familiar.... love the background vocals at the start "makaveli moving pieces.." Love how 2pac sound on this and the scratching on it. though it think xzibit doesnt suit the other verses... maybe could have included the third pac verse there. or another idea is cut the nas verse and make it flow straight into the 2pac third verse then to go back into the pac again. 8 out of 10
6. Are You Still Down - Besides the john b vocals not suiting the drums on instrumental i think you got this mix perfect. love how you have blended the verses in. its perfect feel to the track and something different having nas on it! maybe john b's verse could have been done on part of the instrumental where the drums arnt there and its just a melody (eg. the start of the first nas verse). amazing 9.5 out of 10.
7. By my side - when the vocals at the start kick in i thought WTF. but as soon as the beat kicks in i love it. the instrumental is kind of too repetitive on the verses at times. mixed well but the repetitiveness of me and the vocals put me off. 7 out of 10
8. Mastermindz - Great mix... Love these nas verses so i think ill be a little biased here. Simple beat, not too much in it which really brings the verses out. also 2pac's verse matches the idea of "mastermindz" and what nas is talking about. 10 out of 10!
9. My Style - You Always seem to choose the right features. I think you have got this mix perfect. Standard LL Cool J with his sexual songs lol. Nas being the balance between LL Cool J's smoothness and 2pac's dirtiness on the verses. I now it may sound stupid but its a perfect balanced mix! 9 out of 10
10. Good Life - first RIP NATE DOGG. the title got me excited, and I think the verse fits perfect, though when the instrumental came in Pac's Life verse or Life I Lead verse came to mind... It would suit besides having to play with the ashanti vocals to fit it in well. Great features, top mix 9 out of 10
11. Life Is What You Make It - i think 2pac is out done on this mix. DMX and nas are better suited on this mix. Nas kills it.... Great instrumental, with the features and the slight changes in the instrumental its a great solid mix 8.5 out of 10
12. Thugz Mansion - Always a great choice to end any mixtape. You again have got this perfect. the vocals on the chorus are out done by the instrumental... again maybe if you could put them on a part of the instrumental where its just the melody.. would make it sound like a perfect tribute mix. Great how you added nas at the end over the chorus in the end. 9 out of 10
Overall a good solid tape. I think 2pac was outdone at times with the features and the choice of instrumentals at times. Some really solid mixes here and again definitely some tracks i will put on a cd and blast in my car!**DOWNLOAD**DJ Moey Presents Tupac The Way It Was (2Pac-Forum Mixtape)
