Man u dont need trained ears to hear if acapella is off beat.
just follow snare drum kit "clap" and see how it flows.

Mixing is fucking impossible. Ive tried it for ages and only got 1 onbeat/onbar mix

Id just say it take a lot of practice. But after a while you will figure it out more and see how it all goes.

I think the best tip I could give you, not as a mixer myself, is that not every instrumental will work with every acapella lol. Some things just aren't meant to be.

Other than that nugget gold, do what Nikola said with the snare kicks

I always found it essential to map out of the BPM of the acapella first in Soundforge. That is if the acapella has a constant BPM; if it does, then it's dead simple. If not, then fucking hell it gets annoying. Like that Thug Luv acapella! I never bothered to make a complete mix of that thanks to being unable to map a constant BPM without major cutting up. :/

Using the Soundforge regions and auto-region functions you can easily map out an acapella or instrumental for easy mixing. Though that also takes practice to master, so what everyone else says is right: just keep playing around and you'll get better and better.
It make homos game at females.
