I love Dj Quik's music but he just looks ignorant in this video. There is nothing wrong with fl studio. What matters is talent, Quik just sees his old way of making music dying so this is how he responds by being technophobic.

He disses fl studio , not software.
Im also old guy and use hardware for recording and producing but i also use software, and i think fl studio is powerful digital workstation for producing and mixing, just dont export song from fl studio, record mixdown from master channel into edison and then save it as file, because if u expoert song from fl studio , its rendering engine fucks up mixdown

p.s. im drunk sorry for typos.

That's a good workaround. I thought the sound quality was dependent on the quality of you r sound card. If your using on board audio of course it will sound shitty. Also try to mess with the rendering settings in Fl studio, keep the sample rate up and export as wav.

-Btw i didn't see a thread here asking if you should get drunk Lol.

No, when you work ITB (inside the box, digitally with computer) then it doesn't matter which audio interface you use, because you use already recorded sounds/samples (vsti's).
Fl studio rendering engine is fruity, besides that, its great DAW.

I see thanks for clearing that up. now back to the topic have you noticed how technophobic some rappers are. They are afraid to admit they use computers fearing it will make them seem less gangsta. Thoughts?

Ahh yes, thats the ego some people have. quick is heavy software user plus he has new digital sampler (ni machine) but he also uses good old mpc 3000 limited edition.

its not about tools u use, its how u use them.

i always wondered what it would be like if some1 like quik, dre, battlecat, etc. would play around with fl studio, what the end result would be like.

FL is a powerful virtual studio. But from where he's coming from, I understand.

DJ Quik must think Fruity Loops is alll midi sounding shit. It depends what vsts and sounds you use.

I think Quick is smarter then that. everyone knows that sound quality doesn't depend on which software you use.
programs dont have "their" sound, although something is wrong with FL studio's rendering engine, sounds 2D when you use "File > export" function. Fl users should render their mixdown by placing Edison on Master Channel, and then when mixdown recording is finished, select "Save as .Wav" and thats it.
