The Synclavier was pretty damm sophisticated for a keyboard in 86, gee, lol I can't knock the computer sounds, I even still like hearing 2 bit chip sounds in music, it's a beauty mate!

Synclavier was introduced in '79, it was first high fidelity keyboard rompler (kinda like motif of early 80s but even better). Synclavier was used on Michel Jackson's "Thriller" album. The intro sound from "Beat It" - its a stock patch from Synclavier.

The cost of Synclavier was over 250.000 USD !!!

It had unbelievable good digital converters, huge sample rate (16 bit, 100kHz variable sampling rate - todays standard is 44kHz), 16 track digital recording at 50kHz (!!!), Memory - 32MB RAM (expandable to 76, External Hard Disk (unlimited)...

            all this in 1979.

So it was way better then "some porno voodoo".

Yeah but they only ever probably sold 3 dozen units, and you'd only find them now in a museum now, haha

Thats good because not every kid next door could have it (same with any other gear before computers became standard for recording) Synclavier was in every respectable studio during 80s. You can find them on eBay for 7-10k in mint condition.
